Lanark
Village Santa Claus Parade - Dec 13
Road will be closed 12:55pm-1:45pm. Plan accordingly if you
have ice in Lanark around these times.
The Parade is held on the 2nd Saturday in December. The
parade starts at 1:00 pm, runs from the Civitan parking lot up the main street
(George Street) of Lanark to the Maple Grove Public School and typically lasts
for 45-60 minutes followed by a session in the Maple Grove Public School
gymnasium where the local children can visit with Santa Claus.
Civitan sets a parade theme for each year and communicates
this to the community.
For 2025 the Parade Theme is:
Think Local – Think Lanark Village, Lanark Highlands, Lanark
County and the near-by portions of the Ottawa Valley – Shop locally, Buy
Locally and Canadian made Goods and Services, Support Local Community
Organizations and Explore the 7 Wonders of Lanark County.
——
Those who wish to put together floats or otherwise
participate in the parade can do so on their own property or use the Civitan
parking lot from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. All participants must assemble in the
Civitan parking lot before 12:30 so that the Parade Marshal can organize their
departure.
A typical parade has 15-20 floats and a number of walking
groups. Parade participants are judged in three categories – Best Theme, Best
Commercial and Best Non-Commercial with the winners being identified in the
Lanark Era and receiving a Certificate of Excellence they can post in their
establishments.
